EXPERIENCE

I know you may not have been professionally photographed before, and most likely have a few questions about the process.  Hopefully you'll find some of your answers here.

While I'm dedicated to my art,  I value your experience and enjoyment above all.  If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to get in touch.

Frequently asked questions

What is your pricing?

Because every shoot is different, I always start with a Discovery call so that I can find out what you're looking for. I'll then  send you a custom proposal, with a selection of 3 collections.  My session fees start at £350, and my portrait collections start at £1,200.

can i customise a proposal?

Absolutely.  When you receive the Proposal you can either choose the collection that suits you best, or you can customise one so it's perfectly tailored to your needs.

how do i book a session with you?

Contact me through my contact form or email me at sophie@sophielindsay.com to set up a discovery call.

should I have my hair and make up done for MY shoot?

Yes. I always recommend having your hair and make up done for your shoot. Clients often use their local salon who can often offer professional make up as well. I suggest going with the daytime look that you use most often, and not to go for heavy make up if that's not your normal look.

By all means bring your own makeup for touchups, and I have a good selection of hair products and tongs you can use for last minute alterations.

I can offer a Hair & Makeup Artist to be on set for touch ups throughout your shoot as an optional extra.

do you retouch the images?

My aim is to make your images look as natural and beautiful as possible.  Any image that you order will go through an initial edit for colour and exposure adjustments.  They will also have minimal and subtle basic retouching which includes removal of temporary blemishes, and lessening under-eye shadows/ fly away hair.

I also offer extended master retouching on request, which  may include changes to clothing, hair and makeup, head swapping, and body shaping.  This is outsourced to my master retoucher and rates start at £50.  If you've requested this I provide a quote for your approval before going ahead.

Can you install my
artwork for me?

Yes.  I can arrange for your beautiful artwork to be installed in your home by professional hangers so you know it will be hung in exactly the right place, and is completely secure.

do you sell the digital files?

If you've booked a Headshot Portrait Session, the digital files are the main product as these portraits are most likely for your website and marketing material.

If you're booking a Fine Art Children's Portrait or a Contemporary Portrait, the main product is framed artwork.  Digital files are available to purchase as an add on once you've chosen your frame/s.

I've not been photographed before -  Is it normal to feel  nervous?!

I'm not really sure what
kind of shoot I want, can
you help me decide?

Of course!  I'm here to help and guide you every step of the way.  I know what questions to ask you and how to help you find out what it is that you're looking for, even if you're not 100% sure right now.

In the 25 years I've been a photographer I've not met anyone who isn't nervous before a shoot.  It takes a lot of planning and organisation, and you don't know what to expect.  It's a new experience.  I know you're going to love it, but you don't  - yet! - so yes, it's completely normal; it doesn't last long and I promise you those nerves will disappear minutes after you arrive.

is hairstyling included for the children's fine art portraits?

Yes. I believe that hair styling is an integral part of the styling for my Children's Fine Art portraits and it is included in your session fee.
